OpenRouter launches Armor in beta, a classifier that blocks AI agents' tool calls when they break rules written in plain English (opens the post on X)

Today, we are launching OpenRouter Armor in beta. Tool calls allow agents to interact with the world, and regex-based filtering often isn't enough to detect unwanted tool calls. Armor uses @typesafeai's Jev model to guard against out of policy tool calls before your agent executes them, with better performance than Claude Code's auto classifier at a fraction of the cost.

Reuters reports some investors now discuss a $1.5 trillion valuation for Anthropic's IPO, down from about $2 trillion, as growth slows (opens the post on X)

ANTHROPIC’S IPO VALUATION EXPECTATIONS DROP FROM $2 TRILLION TO $1.5 TRILLION Some investors are considering a $1.5 trillion valuation for Anthropic’s upcoming IPO, down 25% from earlier expectations of $2 trillion. Anthropic reported $16.8 billion in Q3 revenue, up 45% quarter-over-quarter, but growth slowed sharply after revenue more than doubled in Q2. The company also reported adjusted profitability for the quarter. The key concern: Slowing revenue growth and rising AI infrastructure costs could weigh on one of the most anticipated IPOs. PrismML releases Bonsai 2 2B, 4B and 9B, ternary models based on Qwen3.5 that fit in as little as 0.43GB for phones and laptops (opens the post on X)

Today, we’re releasing Bonsai 2 2B, 4B, and 9B. Based on Qwen3.5, these new ternary models bring stronger reasoning, visual understanding, and tool calling to compact footprints designed for everyday devices: • 2B: 0.43GB • 4B: 0.95GB • 9B: 2.0GB For this release, we focused on what makes small models useful as local assistants: following instructions, avoiding repetitive loops, calling tools on mobile devices, and giving useful answers without unnecessary output. The 9B model uses roughly 40% fewer tokens on standard instruction-following and everyday math tasks. Solving the Riemann hypothesis can wait. These models are successors to our first-generation Bonsai 1.7B, 4B, and 8B, and provide a foundation for bringing practical agentic functionality to local applications on personal computers, phones, and wearables. The Bonsai 2 family now includes four sizes spanning 2B to 27B parameters. Developers can choose the balance of capability, memory use, and responsiveness that fits their application and hardware. Available today under Apache 2.0.

Benchmark table comparing Bonsai 2B, 4B and 9B with Qwen3.5 2B, 4B and 9B on knowledge, math, tool calling, coding, instruction following and vision, with model sizes in gigabytes

Dragon Ball voice actor Masako Nozawa says using her voice with generative AI without permission is the same as stealing (opens the post on X)

Masako Nozawa comments on the use of generative AI in voice acting: "I can't forgive using it without asking. I want people to follow the rules.” After watching AI videos of her voice: "This is not my voice. Using it without asking is unforgivable. It's the same as stealing, and it makes me angry. My voice is mine, and my acting is mine too. If anyone uses even a little of it, they should get permission." "What (AI) makes might sound like me. It might even be a perfect copy. But it has no heart, does it? Without heart, it's no good, whatever the role. Even a voice that's only crying is different when you cry with real feeling. That's what I believe." To young people aiming to become voice actors in the AI era: "Work hard so that people say, as a voice actor, it absolutely has to be that person. Without heart, you're just reading the letters of the lines, so make them living words."

Dwarkesh Patel says an Anthropic employee told him AIs will match humans at AI research within nine months, and urges labs to show evidence (opens the post on X)

Dwarkesh Patel reveals an Anthropic employee told him two days ago they expect AIs to match humans at AI research within nine months based on inside information they can’t share, and says labs should make that evidence public “I think there’s a very frustrating element to the current situation right now, where people inside the AI labs claim to have evidence that makes them more worried. And they are not allowed to talk about it. And this makes it a very difficult situation on the outside to evaluate how worried we should be." "So for example, just the other day, maybe two days ago, I was talking to somebody at Anthropic and they were like, look, I expect AIs to be humans at AI research within nine months." "And I’m like, why do you believe that? Well, they’re like, it’s not just vibes, but I have information on the inside. Like, what is it? Is it a new model? Is it some evaluation you ran? It’s like, I can’t talk about it." "I think it’s a terrible state of affairs. If they really believe this, if they think that we’re in a situation where we’re less than a year away from automating AI research and radically speeding it up, they should make this evidence public.”

Former OpenAI researcher Nick Cammarata says most neurons in large models turn out to be legible and that interpretability may be solved soon (opens the post on X)

interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works
