Anthropic Expands Claude for Nonprofits With Custom Fundraising, Marketing, and Hiring Plugin as Adoption Passes 25,000 Organizations

More than 25,000 nonprofits now use Claude. Most are small, local teams. We’re expanding Claude for Nonprofits with a plugin built with around 30 of them, adding skills for fundraising, marketing, and hiring grounded in each team’s context and AI policy:

Context

Why it matters

More than three quarters of the 25,000 nonprofits using Claude have fewer than 10 seats, making prebuilt workflows for grant writing, donor research, and policy governance far more impactful than raw model access alone.

Anthropic launched Claude for Nonprofits in December 2025 alongside GivingTuesday with plan discounts of up to 75 percent and connectors for Blackbaud, Candid, and Benevity. In September 2026 at the United Nations General Assembly, Anthropic introduced a 90 percent discount for verified nonprofits in low and middle income countries that lowered Team seats to 3 dollars per user per month.

Deep dive

Anthropic announced on October 26 that more than 25,000 nonprofit organizations now use Claude, with over 75 percent of those teams operating with fewer than 10 seats. To help small teams handle administrative workloads without dedicated AI engineers, Anthropic released the Claude for Nonprofits plugin, which is installed automatically at no extra cost across verified nonprofit Team and Enterprise plans.

Developed in collaboration with roughly 30 organizations in Anthropic's Design Partner Circle, including the International Rescue Committee, Gates Foundation, Direct Relief, International Justice Mission, Start Early, StriveTogether, and Best Friends Animal Society, the plugin centers on three operational pillars. First, an organizational mapping skill indexes where a team stores donor records, grant files, finances, and internal policies, while an AI policy checker answers staff questions about permissible AI use.

Second, a fundraising suite supports donor and foundation discovery with cited sources, evaluates requests for proposals (RFPs) for eligibility, drafts grant proposals and reports grounded in internal records, and prepares donor stewardship briefs. Third, team extension skills generate marketing campaigns in an organization's voice, build hiring rubrics and 90 day onboarding plans, and assemble board orientation packets. Anthropic also announced plans to expand Claude Corps, which places 1,000 early career fellows across 400 US nonprofits, through a new pro bono consulting partnership with Taproot.

What to expect next

Bundling vertical specific skills that index an organization's own donor database, grant archives, and internal governance rules turns a general purpose assistant into an operational coworker for resource constrained nonprofit teams. Expect competing frontier model providers to package similar domain specific plugins for charities, public school districts, community clinics, and local governments in order to convert discounted seat licenses into deeply embedded institutional workflows.
