Ant Ling open sources Ling 3.0 Flash Sante, a 124B parameter healthcare model with 5.1B active parameters
Today, we’re officially open-sourcing Ling-3.0-flash-Sante. Sante is a healthcare-enhanced MoE model with 124B total parameters and only 5.1B active parameters per token, delivering leading performance among similarly sized models on professional healthcare tasks and complex medical reasoning. Beyond answering medical questions, Sante is built for real-world healthcare research and workflows, with strengthened capabilities in deep research, multi-agent collaboration, and tool use. The model weights are now available — we welcome researchers, developers, and healthcare practitioners to explore Sante and build with it. More below ↓
Context
Open weights for a medical research model give hospitals and researchers a model they can run and audit themselves.
Sante is a mixture of experts model, meaning only part of the network runs for each token. The model card on Hugging Face says it is meant for medical research and workflows, not clinical diagnosis or treatment.
Deep dive
On October 22, Ant Ling posted that it is officially open sourcing Ling 3.0 Flash Sante, a healthcare enhanced mixture of experts model with 124B total parameters and 5.1B active per token. It said the model delivers leading performance among similarly sized models on professional healthcare tasks and complex medical reasoning, and is built for research and workflows with stronger deep research, multi agent collaboration and tool use. It said the weights are available now.
The Hugging Face model card lists the model with 256K context, reasoning and tool calling, and says it is intended for medical research, evidence synthesis and tool assisted workflows rather than clinical diagnosis or treatment.
The chart in the post compares Sante with models including DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Claude, GPT and Gemini on healthcare tests such as HealthBench Professional and MedQA, plus agent tests such as BrowseComp. Some of the benchmarks are marked internal. These results are Ant's own and have not been independently verified. The post drew modest engagement compared with Ant's other release today.
What to expect next
Watch for independent medical benchmark results and for researchers to test Sante against larger general models on real workflows. Also watch whether hospitals or health research groups adopt it, given that the model card rules out clinical diagnosis. Regulators may also look at how open medical models are labeled and used. Ant's release cadence suggests further specialized Ling variants could follow.
