Grok Bot is now on X Chat

Context

Why it matters

Putting Grok Bot inside X's messaging app could make it a daily assistant for X users without opening a separate app.

Tech Dev Notes is an independent account that tracks app changes, so this is secondhand; no official launch post was found. Elon Musk reposted it, and the official Grok Bot account has replied to users that their Grok Bot will show up in their X Chat list once linked.

Deep dive

On October 22, Tech Dev Notes posted that Grok Bot is now on X Chat, with a screenshot of the X Chat inbox showing a pinned conversation named Grok Bot with a gold badge and the message Let me check your calendar and inbox for today. Elon Musk reposted it later that morning.

No official announcement of this change was found. The official @bot account has been replying to people who tag it on X, telling one user it was sending the request to their Grok Bot and that it will show up in their X Chat list once it is linked. That suggests Grok Bot can appear as a conversation inside X Chat for users who have linked accounts.

This builds on an October 16 update in which the official account said Grok Bot can now read X Chat, so users can connect X and ask it to work across their messages. The screenshot does not show who can use the feature, whether it needs a paid plan, or whether it is rolling out to everyone. Grok Bot is the agent product from SpaceXAI.

What to expect next

Watch for an official announcement from the Grok Bot or X accounts confirming who can chat with Grok Bot in X Chat and on which plans. Also watch how X handles privacy when an agent reads and replies to messages, and whether usage grows as people reach Grok Bot directly from their inbox. Rival assistants in other messaging apps may respond with similar features.
