Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas says SpaceX's distributed inference cloud is the most overlooked growth story, and Elon Musk calls it a very big deal (opens the post on X)
Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas in new @SpaceX note: "The part of the SpaceX story that we believe holds the greatest growth potential, and that is being largely ignored/not contemplated by investors, is the Distributed Inference Cloud. Investors are already witnessing some degree of corporate/regulatory/social angst toward data centers. We see SPCX's efforts as instrumental in helping to get the Super Intelligence Economy and the Physical Intelligence Economy on the next leg of growth and economic development. As the 'density' of physical agents increases, we expect incrementally greater intelligence capability of the collective mobile swarm. We ask investors to be prepared to hear about the Distributed Inference Cloud and physical AI swarms in the coming year. From our seat, we think this subject is very close to breaking out in the investor discussion. Gradually… then suddenly."

OpenAI says it found a hidden recording device in its offices, traced it to an employee with its own models, and the FBI made an arrest (opens the post on X)
We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.
Xbox chief Asha Sharma creates Xbox Labs after a wave of games being rapidly decompiled, ported and remixed with new tools (opens the post on X)
Today we're standing up XBOX LABS (t.co/dJSufI1vni). Here is the note that I sent to the team: Team, The first video games emerged some 75 years ago. In the time since, there have been booms and busts, but every year there are more great games to play, more devices to play them, and best of all, more people than ever playing. That growth helped make XBOX what it is today, and we've helped shape the industry in return, from bringing hard drives to consoles and online gaming through Xbox Live to Game Pass and cloud gaming, alongside franchises that have brought millions of people together. In recent weeks, we've seen games rapidly decompiled and rebuilt to run on hardware they were never originally designed to support. Windows PC builds have been translated to run on Apple Silicon or ported to run inside a browser through WebAssembly and WebGPU, the latter now approaching 90% global browser support. Perhaps more surprisingly, we've seen many of the biggest games in the world have been remixed into the source code of another. These experiments challenge long-held assumptions about our industry: the tether between software and hardware, the boundary between creation and play, and how people discover and experience games. While it is hard to predict the future of gaming, it is easy to see the possibilities in making great games easier to access, giving old games new life and allowing more players to become creators and co-creators. These are unmistakably good outcomes for players, even when (and sometimes because) they challenge our existing business models. To explore these possibilities, I’ve asked Scott to stand-up XBOX LABS, a small group of game makers, engineers and scientists whose job is to turn emerging ideas into things our players and developers can experience. We'll build in the open, learn from what people do, and measure success by whether more people are playing and creating. I think XBOX has an important role to play here. Coding became the first major workload for agents because they can write, run, and test software. Games share many of those same properties, and people spend more than 72 billion hours a year playing XBOX games, roughly five times the estimated time spent writing code worldwide. We've spent 25 years learning how to make great games, and I want our game makers to help shape what these new technologies make possible. As we learn, we’ll share the tools we build with developers across the industry, just as we always have. Our priorities aren't changing. We remain committed to the 4Cs, to making great games, to our hardware and to being responsible stewards of IP and the communities built around it. LABS gives us a way to explore new technology that is game design led without abandoning the work already underway. Asha
New York Fed President John Williams says AI is the inflation driver he is watching most closely, but the economy is not overheating (opens the post on X)
FED'S WILLIAMS: AI BOOM IS FUELING INFLATION, BUT ECONOMY IS NOT OVERHEATING New York Fed President John Williams says AI infrastructure demand is pushing up chip prices, construction costs and inflation, with supply unlikely to catch up for several years. Key takeaways: * Rates: One more hike in 2026 may be appropriate; no additional hikes currently expected in 2027. * Inflation: Expected to approach 2% in 2027. * AI: Strong demand could keep chip prices elevated. * Economy: Labor markets remain stable, with no broad overheating. * Treasuries: Higher long-term yields are tightening borrowing conditions. Williams expects AI productivity gains to eventually help reduce inflation.
Exa, the search engine built for AI agents, passes $100 million in annualized revenue after growing about 10x a year for three years (opens the post on X)
Exa just passed $100m in annualized revenue. We've grown almost exactly 10x per year for 3 years. We now handle 2 billion requests a month from 200k+ teams. And it’s still so early: We predict agents will search 1000x more than humans by 2030. Agents don't search like humans. They write long, complex queries and want all the world's data, not just the web. We've spent 5 years building a search engine designed for them. We now serve personal agents, AI labs, coding agents, GTM agents, really any agent. Exa gives these agents access to 100s of billions of web documents and tons of proprietary data. Our customers are increasingly noticing that information is the bottleneck to agent performance. While the world seems close to perfect intelligence with models like Fable and Astra, we are very far from perfect information. To our small but legendary team, thank you for getting us here, from engineering to research to GTM to ops. To our customers, it is an honor to serve you. We have some exciting releases coming soon and can't wait to share them 🫡

XBOW and OpenAI's GPT 5.6 Sol built a full chain Chrome exploit in six days, winning Google's first $250,000 full chain bounty of 2026 (opens the post on X)
For the second time in Google Chrome’s history, Google awarded a $250,000 bounty for a full-chain exploit… to @XBOW. Here’s the full story: At an all-hands at the start of 2026 in Malta, I set the team a crazy challenge. A full-chain exploit of Chrome by the annual Black Hat cybersecurity conference in August. I believed there were few better tests of whether @XBOW could move beyond web applications to desktop software, servers and devices. Chrome is one of the most hardened pieces of software on the planet, used by more than half the world’s population. A full-chain exploit lets an attacker take total control of a machine, where they can read every email, password and bank login the user types. You don’t need to download anything or click a phishing link. Visiting the wrong site is enough. So @moyix, Andres Luksenberg, Baul Lee, and Willem Pinckaers took on the challenge along with a fifth teammate: OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol. They built a chain they thought would win, but Google told us they already knew one of the bugs. We were already in Las Vegas for Black Hat and DEF CON, and the team didn’t want to go home without the win. So Brendan and the agents built a new exploit in just 6 days. We submitted it to Google and waited. The news came through that we'd done what should’ve been impossible. A full-chain bounty of $250,000, the first awarded under Google’s 2026 rules. It took just 6 days and $40,000 of compute to construct an exploit that affects a billion users of Chrome on Windows. An intelligence-agency veteran told me his team used to spend 6 months on this kind of vulnerability. My takeaway: the cost of finding truly critical vulnerabilities is collapsing, for attackers and defenders alike. Restricting powerful models is not the answer; GPT-5.6 Sol is already public. But defenders have one advantage attackers never will: they can test their own code first. Assume your software is exploitable. Whoever is hunting your bugs has the same building blocks we did. This is cause for urgency but not panic. XBOW is now developing an autonomous product for testing compiled software (desktop applications, servers, embedded devices), and partnering with the world’s top organizations to design that product. If you’d like to be one of them, get in touch. P.S. Restart Chrome whenever the Update button appears!

Derek Thompson says Anthropic's leaders should stop narrating recursive self improvement like traffic news and commit to specific red lines (opens the post on X)
Anthropic's leaders need to stop commenting on the emergence of RSI like a local news anchor reporting on traffic on the 101, and acknowledge that they are the traffic, and they're not going to build something that they don't want to exist. They should move beyond "pacing" language, commit to specific policies and red lines, explain why those lines are red, and then use that costly signal to build an international consensus around norms. It's not that I trust the CCP, or that I think global lab monitoring and verification is imminent. But the status quo is absurd. You've got US lab leaders writing (or favorably quote-tweeting) essays about slowing down while simultaneously saying "things are moving faster and faster" and "btw, our internal models finished mathematics on Tuesday, next up: physics." The effect is the equivalent of Usain Bolt winning race after race while using his press conferences to bemoan the dangerous speed of modern sprinting on one's legs so would everybody please try a little less hard next race, and then ... breaking his 100m record again the following month. Honestly ask yourself: If you were China, why would you take this pausing/pacing stuff seriously?

ScaleDown launches Constrained Decoding Models, task specific AI models for classifying, extracting and summarizing that skip token by token generation (opens the post on X)
You already gave the LLM the answer. So why is it writing it out from scratch? Introducing a new AI model architecture: Constrained Decoding Models (CDMs) LLMs were built to write. Most production workloads just need an answer: fast, consistent, and affordable. CDMs are purpose-built for 1 task each. They read your input once and skip the token-by-token generative loop that makes LLMs slow and expensive. Not just a decision model, but a family of 3 CDMs live today: • Classify: define your labels and get back a calibrated probability + reason for each. Used for routing, tagging, and intent detection. • Extract: describe the entities in natural language and get back well-formed JSON with confidence scores + citations. Used for web scraping, document processing, and PII redaction. • Summarize: pass in long text, images, or PDFs and get back a consistent summary under 1,000 tokens. Used for context compaction, metadata generation, and transcript digests. Built for production: • 1M tokens of multimodal (text + image) input, 31x larger than Jev • 77.2% on DecisionBench vs Jev's 72% • 200x faster, 467x cheaper than frontier LLM APIs • $0.05/M input tokens. Nature Will unveils Natura 1, a 50 billion parameter model trained on a million hours of first person human video to control dexterous robot hands (opens the post on X)
Introducing Natura-1, our first general foundation model for the physical world. It follows natural-language instructions zero-shot and turns them into action with dexterous hands. Natura-1 is a 50-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts (MoE) model pretrained on one million hours of egocentric human experience. On top of this foundation, we conduct efficient post-training on a limited amount of robot data to adapt pretrained world knowledge to dexterous manipulation, yielding a model that generalizes to a wide range of unseen scenarios. Natura-1 follows complex natural-language instructions zero-shot, reasoning through spatial constraints, multi-object relationships, and negative conditions. It can also autonomously carry out long and continuous workflows to perform long-horizon executions. Natura-1 provides early evidence that generalization—and even emergent behavior—can coexist with the complexity of dexterous hands. Further progress depends on the full stack: infrastructure for faster training and real-time inference, pretraining data at greater scale and coverage, and models that transfer to robots with less adaptation. We expect it to be a long-term research and engineering effort.
