Grok Bot Launches a Shopping Experience That Finds Deals, Compares Items and Tracks Orders

Try the new shopping experience in Grok Bot. Find the best deal, compare items, and have Bot track all your orders.

Context

Why it matters

Shopping is one of the biggest everyday jobs for assistant agents, and a built in deal finder and order tracker puts Grok Bot in direct competition with shopping features from other AI assistants.

Grok Bot is an assistant agent from xAI that can browse, make calls and complete tasks for users. Earlier in this deck, users showed it placing phone calls and booking trips and appointments. Elon Musk, who runs xAI, quote posted the shopping announcement.

Deep dive

The official Grok Bot account (@bot) posted on the afternoon of Nov 3 ET that users can try a new shopping experience in Grok Bot.

According to the post, the feature can find the best deal, compare items and have Grok Bot track all of a user's orders. The post includes a short video showing a grid of product cards with Details and Buy Now buttons, and a card labeled Best Match.

The announcement does not say which stores or marketplaces are supported, whether purchases are completed inside Grok Bot or on retailer sites, how order tracking connects to a user's accounts, or which countries get the feature first.

The post passed 650,000 views. Early on Nov 4 ET, Elon Musk (@elonmusk) quote posted it with the comment that Grok Bot shopping is great, and his quote post passed 790,000 views on its own.

The launch follows a busy day for the product. Earlier posts in this deck showed Grok Bot placing phone calls for users with live transcripts, and Musk sharing examples of it booking a complex family trip and a doctor's appointment. Shopping adds a commercial use case on top of those tasks.

What to expect next

Watch for details on which retailers Grok Bot supports and whether it can complete checkout on its own or hands off to stores. Users will likely test how well its deal finding works against regular price comparison tools. Questions about payments, returns and how order data is stored are still open. Other assistant makers may answer with their own shopping updates.
