Claude Users Can Now Auto Connect Plugins at Login Through MCP Servers That Trust Claude as an Issuer
Users can now auto-connect plugins when they log in to Claude, with MCP servers that accept Claude as a trusted issuer. If you’re building plugins for Claude, add support so users get started faster and stay connected without re-authorizing.
Context
Removing repeated sign ins makes company tools easier to use inside Claude, which helps Anthropic win team and enterprise seats.
Claude plugins let the assistant use outside tools and company systems through MCP, the Model Context Protocol that Anthropic introduced. ClaudeDevs is Anthropic's developer account. Boris Cherny, who leads Claude Code at Anthropic, added detail for teams.
Deep dive
ClaudeDevs (@ClaudeDevs) posted on Nov 3 that users can now auto connect plugins when they log in to Claude, with MCP servers that accept Claude as a trusted issuer. The account asked plugin builders to add support so users get started faster and stay connected without authorizing again.
Boris Cherny (@bcherny) of Anthropic explained the reason in a quote post: signing in to a company's plugins one by one is annoying, so Claude can now connect to them automatically. He said Team and Enterprise admins can set the plugins up, and teammates are connected automatically the first time they use them.
In practice the change means a plugin's server can trust Claude's own login instead of asking each user to sign in to every tool separately. That only works for servers that add support for Claude as a trusted issuer, so the benefit depends on plugin builders adopting it.
The ClaudeDevs post passed 320,000 views. It is an incremental update, but sign in friction is one of the main reasons company tools go unused inside AI assistants. Making setup a one time admin task brings Claude closer to how workplace apps are normally rolled out.
What to expect next
Watch for which plugin makers add support first, especially large workplace software vendors, and whether other MCP clients adopt a similar trusted issuer model. Security teams will look closely at how access is granted and revoked when Claude acts as the identity for many tools. Anthropic may extend the feature beyond Team and Enterprise plans, and plugin directories may start to show which servers support it.
