NVIDIA introduces DSX POD, factory built Vera Rubin AI data centers in shipping containers that it says can be running in as little as 14 days
AI builders need computing capacity they can put to work sooner. We introduced DSX POD at NVIDIA GTC Berlin: AI factories integrated and tested before delivery, enabling deployment at prepared sites in as little as 14 days.
Context
Building AI data centers takes months, and moving the work into factories could get new compute online far faster.
NVIDIA announced DSX POD at its GTC Berlin conference. It is a reference design that partners build and ship, not a product NVIDIA sells directly, and deliveries are planned for early 2027.
Deep dive
On October 21, NVIDIA posted that AI builders need computing capacity they can put to work sooner, and that it introduced DSX POD at GTC Berlin: AI factories integrated and tested before delivery, enabling deployment at prepared sites in as little as 14 days.
NVIDIA's press release says DSX POD is a reference design for complete Vera Rubin AI factories built by partners inside modular containers. Computing, networking, cabling, rack power and liquid cooling are installed and validated at the factory, so units arrive ready to connect to a prepared site's power, cooling and networking. NVIDIA says this cuts deployment time from six months to as little as 14 days. Jensen Huang said an AI factory creates value when it starts producing tokens, not when construction is complete.
CNBC reported that each pod holds seven Vera Rubin racks in a unit about the size of a shipping container, weighing about 28,000 kilograms, and can be moved by truck on normal roads. NVIDIA did not give a price.
Partners include Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Foxconn, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Crusoe and Anduril, among others, with deliveries planned worldwide in early 2027. The 14 day figure assumes a site already prepared with power and cooling, which is often the slowest part of building a data center.
Commentator Chubby called it a bigger deal than most realize because it addresses scaling.
What to expect next
Watch for the first DSX POD deliveries in early 2027 and whether real deployments hit the 14 day target. Pricing and which customers order first will show how widely it is used. Also watch whether power and site preparation, which the design does not solve, remain the main limit on new AI capacity, especially in Europe, where NVIDIA pitched the product.
