A lot of you have been asking for @bot to be able to access your @chat messages and message requests to help manage busy inboxes. excited to share this is now live! I've had my @bot reviewing new message requests all week, approving them, and helping me stay on top of my inbox.

Context

Why it matters

Letting an agent triage private messages saves time for busy accounts but gives the bot access to sensitive conversations.

This is a first hand post from Paul Vann describing his own use, and the Grok Bot changelog is the official record of the feature. He does not say what controls limit what the bot can send or approve.

Deep dive

On October 16, Paul Vann posted that many people had asked for Grok Bot to be able to access X Chat messages and message requests to help manage busy inboxes, and that this is now live.

He wrote that he has had his bot reviewing new message requests all week, approving them and helping him stay on top of his inbox. The attached video shows a Grok Bot chat screen.

Vann had earlier described a setup in which his bot checks his X Chat every five minutes for ideas, logs good ones in Notion and starts a cloud coding agent to build them, after X Chat endpoints were added to Grok Bot.

The feature means a user's bot can read private conversations and act on requests from strangers, such as approving or declining them. The post does not say whether the bot can reply on the user's behalf without confirmation, or how message data is handled.

Other Grok Bot features covered in this deck include marketplace templates published by the team and a creator's workflow for finding unanswered comments.

What to expect next

Watch for details in the official changelog on what the bot can do with X Chat, such as sending replies, and what approvals it needs first.

Also watch for user reports of mistakes such as approving spam or replying wrongly, and whether X adds settings to limit which conversations a bot can read. Privacy questions from users with sensitive inboxes will likely follow.
