Why it matters

Healthcare paperwork is a huge cost center, and investors are backing agents that take over scheduling, referrals, refills and payments inside existing clinic systems.

Chetan Reddy is Confido Health's cofounder and CEO, so this is a first hand funding announcement. Z47, the lead investor, says the extension brings total Series A funding to $22.5 million, with healthcare private equity veteran Justin Saks joining as an investor and board advisor and existing investors Together Fund and Blume Ventures participating. Deep dive

On October 14, Chetan Reddy posted that Confido Health has raised $22.5 million in total Series A funding, including a new $12.5 million extension led by Z47. He wrote that medicine has added decades to our lives, yet patients still lose weeks to paperwork, and that Confido is building AI agents to give healthcare teams more capacity to care.

According to Z47's announcement, Confido builds AI agents for the administrative work that connects patient records, appointments and payments, which Z47 says costs over $1 trillion a year. The company is expanding its platform, CareOS, from voice agents into what Dealroom describes as an operating layer that carries context from task to task, so a single interaction can trigger a referral, appointment, prescription refill and payment.

Confido says its agents now help 1 in 50 Americans access their health care, and Dealroom reports the company claims over 95% AI handle rates across core office tasks, adding three to five full time employees' worth of capacity within three months of going live. Runtime Wire notes these automation metrics are company reported and that Confido did not disclose revenue, retention or valuation.

Vikram Vaidyanathan of Z47 said healthcare administration is a trillion dollar cost center that for decades could only be managed by hiring more people, and that Confido is building AI staffing for healthcare. Z47 says the money will fund expansion of CareOS across multi site healthcare organizations and more agents across workflows and specialties.

What to expect next

Watch whether Confido's company reported handle rates hold up as it moves from single practices into larger multi site groups, and whether it starts disclosing revenue or customer retention.

Also watch competition in healthcare admin automation, where many startups and electronic health record vendors are building agents for scheduling and prior authorization, and how regulators view AI agents that act directly inside patient facing workflows.
