Deep dive
On October 13, Akash Anand posted: We've raised a $10M Series A to automate video creation for every company.
He wrote that more than 1,000 organizations, including Atlassian, GitLab, Samsara, Legrand and Zendesk, use Clueso to automate videos for marketing, customer education and employee training. He added that the struggle of video creation in companies is so real that Netflix made a documentary about it, a joke that does not name a specific film.
SiliconANGLE and PPC Land reported that Clueso's agents learn a company's software and brand, record real product workflows, write and voice scripts, add motion graphics and edit the result. They said the agents can refresh videos automatically when a product or process changes, which is a major cost for software companies whose help videos go out of date quickly.
YourStory reported that Dharana Capital led the round, bringing Clueso's total funding to $12 million. The video in the post lists Founders Future, Neotribe, 77 Ventures and Y Combinator alongside Dharana.
What to expect next
Watch whether Clueso's automatic video updates work reliably at large customers, since keeping training and help videos current is its main pitch.
Also watch competition from AI video tools such as Synthesia and from software makers adding video generation directly into their own products. Customer retention will be the key number to watch, since automated videos only pay off if companies keep using them as their products change.
