Andrej Karpathy Builds HackerTube in About Two Hours With Opus 5.5, Mining 43M Hacker News Comments for 6,454 Recommended Videos (opens the post on X)

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: t.co/JIhXN7OSh1 - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

Token Gremlin Claims OpenAI Is Quietly Testing GPT 6.2 Astra, With the Model Name Showing Up in Codex Usage Data (opens the post on X)

OpenAI is quietly A/B testing a new variant called GPT-6.2 Astra, and it's already showing up in Codex usage analytics. The model picker still says GPT-6 Astra, but the usage breakdown for some accounts now lists gpt-6.2-astra separately. Multiple users are seeing the exact same thing, so this isn't a glitch. It's a gray rollout, and a new Astra is coming soon.

Usage breakdown chart listing GPT 6 Astra at 80 percent, GPT 6.2 Astra at 19.8 percent and GPT 6 Luna under 0.1 percent

Martin Varsavsky Highlights Anthropic's Purchase of Mithril Medicine, a One Employee Biotech That Ran 11 Outside Labs With Claude (opens the post on X)

No tenía laboratorio propio. Tenía ocho consultores a tiempo parcial, 11 laboratorios externos y a Claude coordinando contratos, logística y experimentos.

The Kobeissi Letter Says US Investment in Information Processing Equipment and Software Hit a Record $1.77 Trillion in Q3 2026 (opens the post on X)

AI spending is rapidly accelerating in the US. US private fixed investment in information processing equipment and software grew at an annualized rate of +7.3% in Q3 2026, to a record $1.77 trillion. This marks the largest quarterly increase since Q4 1983. By comparison, at the height of the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble, this metric grew +6.2%. Since Q4 2022, private fixed investment in information processing equipment and software has surged +61%, or +$671 billion. As a % of GDP, this metric is up to a record 5.4%, significantly surpassing the previous high of 4.5% recorded in Q4 2000. The scale of US AI investment is unlike anything seen before.

Shams Flags an Unverified Hugging Face Repo Claiming to Hold a 14 Trillion Parameter Mythos Class Model With 1,224 Experts (opens the post on X)

THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE CRAZIEST AI LEAKS EVER 💀 AN ALLEGED MYTHOS-CLASS MODEL WITH 14 TRILLION PARAMETERS JUST APPEARED ON HUGGING FACE. BUT THERE'S ONE PROBLEM... NOBODY HAS VERIFIED THE WEIGHTS. HERE'S WHAT THE REPO CLAIMS: - 14 TRILLION PARAMETERS - 1,224 MoE EXPERTS - 7.72 TB OF WEIGHTS - 772 WEIGHT SHARDS - HYBRID GDN + MLA ARCHITECTURE - MODEL CONFIGS, ARCHITECTURE CODE AND TRAINING METADATA IF THESE CLAIMS ARE REAL, THIS COULD BE MASSIVE. BUT A REPO CLAIMING TO CONTAIN INTERNAL WEIGHTS DOESN'T PROVE THEY'RE AUTHENTIC. ANYONE LOOKED INTO THE ACTUAL FILES YET? LEGIT LEAK OR ELABORATE FAKE? 👀

Screenshot of a draft X post saying a Hugging Face repository named burner22/numbat claims to hold an internal Anthropic Mythos class checkpoint, listing about 14 trillion parameters, 1,224 experts, 7.72 TB of weights, 772 shards and NVFP4 quantization
