Elon Musk Lays Out a Vision Beyond Terafab: Building Compute on the Moon With Optimus Robots and Launching It by Mass Driver (opens the post on X)

Elon Musk answers the most ambitious question: “What do we do after a Terafab?” How do we achieve a PETAWATT-scale future built on the Moon? The vision is to use Tesla Optimus robots, humans and local lunar manufacturing to build massive compute infrastructure, then launch it into deep space using electromagnetic mass drivers Because the Moon has no atmosphere and only one-sixth of Earth’s gravity, electromagnetic mass drivers could accelerate payloads to escape velocity using electricity instead of conventional chemical rocket propulsion So no combustion burning rocket fuel is required for launch from the lunar surface That opens the door to scaling compute by another THREE orders of magnitude: Terawatt → Petawatt A staggering 1,000× increase in scale

Aaron Saunders Says Google DeepMind Agents Designed and Built a Dancing Pumpkin Robot From One Plain English Prompt (opens the post on X)

While most jack-o-lanterns just sit on porches, the @GoogleDeepMind team decided to let AI agents design, simulate, and bring one to life. 🎃🤖 We built a physical, dancing 12 degrees of freedom robot directly from a single plain-English prompt, with no manual CAD required!

Elon Musk Explains Why the Hand Is the Hardest Part of Building Tesla's Optimus Robot (opens the post on X)

Elon Musk on why the hand is the hardest part of building Optimus: "Well, I have to say, building a humanoid robot has really made me think a lot about how the human body works. But maybe more than anything, just how incredible our hands are. It's like, wow." "Almost all the muscles that control your hand are actually in your forearm. And they're pulling your fingers like puppets." @elonmusk

GLM 5.5 is well into post training now They seem to have been training internal 32B / 122B / 256B models to merge into the next gen base model which will be GLM 5.5 It's been a couple months since GLM 5.3 so I hope they release this relatively soon

Bill Ackman Says Elon Musk May Need to Borrow a Trillion Dollars for Data Centers, Keeping Rates High (opens the post on X)

Bill Ackman says Elon Musk might have to borrow a trillion dollars to open gigawatts of data centers, keeping rates persistently high, and that neoclouds are like levered real estate developers sensitive to the cost of capital “So, I think it is sustainable because, you know, intelligence is again an enormously valuable asset. And I think the demand therefore for the compute that enables intelligence, I think, is going to be sustained." "And, you know, the companies that are, you know, the hyperscalers that are building out a lot of this infrastructure have the financial resources, the creditworthiness in order to access the capital." "I worry more about the pure play neocloud companies that are a bit like highly levered real estate developers playing a theme. I think they’re much more at risk. They’re much more sensitive to the cost of capital." "But you have, I mean, SpaceX, Elon on the earnings call gave some projections for how many gigawatts of data centers he was going to open. If he meets his objective, he might have to borrow a trillion dollars of capital." "So, you have companies competing at sovereign levels for debt. And the result is, you know, this massive, you know, more and more supply of debt. So, I don’t see a world in which, you know, there’s a dramatic, you know, there’s a lot of demand for capital and a finite supply. So, I think that makes rates persistently high.”

Bill Ackman Says Brain Computer Interfaces Helped by AI Will Let the Blind See Again Within Years (opens the post on X)

Bill Ackman says Neuralink and other brain-computer interfaces will let the blind see again within "not too many years" “And you know, my daughter, who lost pretty much basic function, ability to walk, ability to speak, ability to see, is regaining function. She’s cognitively, as far as I can tell, fine. She’s relearning how to speak, and she’s learning again how to walk. And I’m confident we’re going to get her back." "Biggest challenge right now is that the optic nerve damage from the pressure on the brain has caused her to lose probably 98% of her vision." "But even there I’m optimistic. Spent a lot of time in the last few months meeting with all these brain computer interface companies, obviously Neuralink being the most famous, but there’s some other very promising lower intervention technologies." "And this will be a period, you know, AI is going to enable us. We’re going to be able to get more signal from the brain, and we’re going to be able to interpret that signal much more effectively than we had before. And the blind will see again, and people who have not been able to walk, so to speak, paraplegics, I believe will walk again. It’s a matter of not months but years, but not too many years.”
